What Happens If You Are Awarded the Scholarship?

This scholarship program gives those in recovery the opportunity to fund their first three months in a sober living community. Our scholarships give individuals the chance to invest in their long-term recovery through the sober living programs we partner with. Your donation will provide a scholarship to someone in recovery, supporting them through the first few months of sober living in one of our partner organizations.

Once you have approved, we will send the funds directly to one of our sober living partners. The first step to applying for the Living Amends scholarship is to visit the Apply page and fill out the first month’s application. We believe that having the recipient help pay the bills empowers them and gives them a stake in their sobriety. In the second month, if they reapply and successfully are awarded the second month’s rent, the resident will pay 50% of the rent.

If they receive that scholarship, they’ll pay 75% of that month’s rent. We seek partnerships with sober living and individuals. During the second month, the applicant must reapply with second month application about how the grant has impacted their sobriety. The Terms on the email must be agreed to by replying “I agree to terms” before the funds are released directly to the sober living. Living Amends understands the system is not perfect, and more clients will relapse than stay sober after residential treatment. At Living Amends, we understand lack of finances is the main reason most clients do not follow through with a sober living environment.

As a result, we’ve developed our scholarship for those seeking a way to pay for this method of on-going treatment. Outside of the insulated environment that an inpatient addiction treatment community provides, it becomes more challenging to remain sober. The first month, we pay 75%, the second month 50%, and the final month 25% of the monthly rent.
